Abstract:
Rapid growth of information technology, particularly, the internet and associated technologies, has
opened up an entirely new medium for providing improved information services and resources for
the users. The future requires the librarians to reorient themselves, think creatively and adopt new technological skills to generate services and resources where their skills of structuring and organizing resources are put to its best use. This work which in its entirety discussed the hope of future libraries, future librarians and the skills that librarians need to face the challenges brought about by information explosion and technological innovations. Collaboration among others was recommended for libraries and librarians as a way to think, articulate and receive clarity about their competencies. It serves as a mirror that gives them a glimpse of their strengths and weaknesses and will benefit both and by extension, the students also.
