Degraded water impact negatively on mankind, biodiversity and agriculture, and its avoidance or reduced anthropogenic causes is of high ecological importance thus this study. The study adopted survey research design and was guided by three research questions. The population comprised of all water users in the region with a sample of 165 randomly selected respondents from two coastal states in the region; Bayelsa and Delta states. The instrument for data collection was structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The findings of the study revealed that is charge of sewage into river/stream is the highest causes of water degradation by the local users. The study recommends the use of water degradation awareness campaign and establishment of water treatments and purifying plants in states in the region.
