This is because cultural heritage is an expression of the ways of living developed by a community and passed on from generation to generation, including customs, practices, places, objects, artistic expressions and values. Cultural heritage is today considered as an activity that has a far-reaching effect on both the economic and social development of any nation. This paper is an opinion based. It reveals extensively how the sustainability of cultural heritage preservation and management are being carried out in the digital age. The paper also went further to discuss the strategic roles of libraries in the preservation and management of cultural heritage for sustainable development which will serve as an indicator for future generation. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for this study. Five research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. A sample size of one hundred and eighty-one (181) library personnel formed the sample for the study. The sample size was determined using Yaro Yemen from a population of 332 respondents, the researcher employed the random sampling techniques. Instrument for data collection is a well-structured questionnaire. One hundred and eighty-one copies of questionnaire were distributed to library personnel with a return rate of 100%. The study used frequency counts, mean and standard deviation for data analysis. The results of the study revealed that public relations unit/officer are available in academic libraries in Benue and Nasarawa States; various public relations activities that can attract funds, grants and aids to academic libraries in Benue and Nasarawa States include: engaging with users and the public on social media sites, such as Twitter, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, blogs, LinkedIn, amongst others. The study found out that the various forms of funds, grants and aids that academic library in Benue and Nasarawa States can attract through public relations activities include money (cash or cheque), and donation of library furniture, amongst others. Challenges affecting public relations activities in academic libraries in Benue and Nasarawa States include lack of motivation caused by absence of staff remuneration, frequent transfer of staff from one library unit to another, amongst others. Solutions to the challenges affecting public relations activities in academic libraries in Benue and Nasarawa States include provision of a smooth two-way communication channel and improving staff motivation through remuneration, amongst others. It was recommended that university administrators must ensure there are public relations units in academic libraries and must ensure their activities are supervised. Librarians should make use of social media sites, such as Twitter, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, blogs and LinkedIn in attracting funds, grants and aids to academic libraries. Descriptive survey design is in the description of the influence of demographic factor on the use of electronic resources by undergraduate students in distance learning centres in Nigeria. Distance Learning Centre, University of Ibadan and National Open University, Ibadan Study Centre were selected for the study and copies of structured questionnaire and interview schedule were used in gathering of data. Data was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics tested at 0.05 level of significance. The study found out that there is a significant relationship between age and level of study on the use of electronic resources. In conclusion, the study recommends that both young and old students should be encouraged and sensitized on the use of electronic resources. This paper discusses the causes and remedies of deterioration of archival materials in academic libraries at the tropical zones. Academic libraries are known as the hub of intellectual activities in every academic institution and they house different forms of information materials which include archival materials. Archival materials are unique information materials that have endless values and are useful especially for research purposes. However, they can be endangered especially in the tropical zones. The tropical zones are known for breeding insects and rodents that can harm archival materials. The paper identifies different factors that accelerate deterioration of archival materials such as environmental or climatic, biological, chemical, human factors including disasters. These factors can cause permanent damage to these information materials. It also suggests remedies to the deterioration of archival materials such as preventive and curative measures.
